What Dreams May Come?
By Salina Abd Aziz, VP, Membership & Community Engagement
Dreams are worthless if they are not backed by time, sweat and sustained effort. Real change is never accidental. It is built deliberately, often slowly, and always with conviction.
Women in Public Relations began as one such dream when like-minded women came together with a shared belief. That dream is now real. But let us be honest. The journey is far from complete. Shifting mindsets, recalibrating attitudes and opening doors for capable women still demand discipline, persistence and collective will.
At its core, our narrative is simple and unapologetic. Women in communications have shaped reputations, steered crises, influenced policy and driven strategy for decades.
They belong in the boardroom. Not as token voices, but as decision-makers.
Across society, corporate leadership and government, women of substance are already proving this every day. The evidence is there. What remains is scale, access and intent.
As Vice President, Membership and Community Engagement at Women in Public Relations (WIPR), I see firsthand the depth of talent, ambition and leadership potential within our community. For those new to this movement, let WIPR be the spark that pushes you to think bigger about your role, your voice and your leadership potential. For those already leading teams, agencies, departments, or organisations, this is a call to go further.
We must work together to ensure more women in communications take their rightful place at the table where strategy is set and futures are decided.
To the men who understand the value women bring, who champion equity not as charity but as good governance and smart leadership, your support matters. This is not a closed circle. Progress never is.
If this resonates with you, do not watch from the sidelines. Join Women in Public Relations as a member. Be part of a community that is serious about leadership, influence and impact. Dreams move forward only when people step in and commit. The journey begins at our website www.mywomeninpr.com and email at hello@mywomeninpr.com.
